The final session in this series will examine rising antisemitism, the White Terror, and events leading to the German invasion in 1944. Despite this, from emancipation through World War I, Jews felt deeply at home in Hungary, with many achieving prominence in government, culture, and society. We will explore their flourishing life and the architectural splendor of synagogues such as the New Synagogue (1900–1903), a jewel of Hungarian art nouveau.
