More details An evening dedicated to the search for musical magic infused with the atmosphere of three cultures: Indian (Ragas), Eastern (Maqams), and the mystical-Kabbalistic Jewish melody, all in a delicate and creative fusion with jazz. Kobi Arad is a jazz musician active on the international scene. He has collaborated with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Cindy and Carlos Santana, Roy Ayers, and recently recorded with John Patitucci and Steve Gadd. He has received numerous awards including the Independent Music Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, and Global Music Awards; he is also a voting member of the prestigious Grammy Awards. He resides in New York, where he has performed at Blue Note, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. In this performance, Arad combines two projects he composed and produced: Makams Places – which won the 2021 Album of the Year award at the Global Music Awards. The project, featuring Sharly Sabach (Oud) and Ofer Feld (Flutes & Reeds), incorporates Arabic Maqams with improvisational, distilled applications, and a mystical Jewish spirit. The second project – Rags and Ragas – was also produced and performed by Arad, with renowned musicians John Patitucci and Steve Gadd. It presents an organic fusion of Indian Ragas and jazz. The album reached #3 on the iTunes chart in the United States. This groundbreaking album, composed by Indian composer Charu Suri and performed (with Arad as guest artist and producer) at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, pushes boundaries. Joining the stage will be guest artists: Yair Sabach (Guitar), Guy Trax (Bass), and 17-year-old wunderkind Ido Mendel (Drums), who will bring powerful and exciting color to the performance. Together with Arad, they will perform avant-garde funk pieces, blending musical elements into a festive creation that includes Oud and Flute. This section will be dedicated to celebrating Arad’s new album, Warping, which has just received an exciting nomination for Musician of the Year at the Elite Music Awards. Together in the performance – Makams and Ragas – create a balanced atmospheric fusion that on one hand provides Indian meditation and on the other, expressive melodic complexity, with an engaging mix of jazz.
