OUM, a musical play based on the novel by Salim Nassib, tells the life story of the renowned Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, known as the "Star of the East." The performance follows her journey from her early days performing disguised as a Bedouin boy to becoming a cultural icon in the Arab world and 20th-century Egypt. The play explores the unrequited love of poet Ahmed Rami, who wrote 137 of her songs, and the artistic rivalry between Umm Kulthum and Abdel Wahab. The production features live music and singing. The cast includes Galit Giat as Umm Kulthum, Yonatan Basson as Ahmed Rami, Khawla Haj-Debsy as the nanny Saadia, and Akram Ouda as Abdel Wahab and Khaled. Written by Eden Oliel and Yigal Ezrati, directed by Yigal Ezrati, with musical direction by Alaa Abu Amara. The performance duration is approximately 90 minutes. Ticket price is 110 NIS, with a senior citizen ticket available for 99 NIS.
